The Source Family
Tuesday Nov 20, 2018
Tuesday Nov 20, 2018
Hey friends, we are back with another episode. this week, it's a look into the strange world of James Baker, who later re-invented himself, into the the self appointed guru for f**ked up hippies - Father Yod.
It's a true tale, of a self proclaimed god, the fervent worship by his followers, sex and a whole slew of other things usually practiced by cults.
So, grab a protein salad, some plants and weeds from your garden, blend them up into a shake, sit back and listen on with us.
See ya next week

The Karate Kid
Tuesday Nov 13, 2018
Tuesday Nov 13, 2018
Hey friends, we're back with a new episode this week (we plan to now make our episodes far more frequent than as of late). This week we dive into the world of LaRusso, and look at the 1984 *classic* THE KARATE KID
The first, and really the only good Karate Kid film gets put under the microscope, and we look at what works, and what doesn't about this film.
So stop sanding the floor, waxing on, waxing off or whatever cheap labour you are doing at the moment, and join us, as we look at The Karate Kid.
Next week, we look at a documentary, about a rather unique family.
Enjoy

Tuesday Nov 06, 2018
Tuesday Nov 06, 2018
John and Hunter return to the world of Jackie Chan to look at the film that made Jackie a star, "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow". We discuss how Chan's early vehicles were different from his later films, as well as why "Drunken Master" is so overrated.
"Snake in the Eagles Shadow" is available on Blu-ray from Twilight Time. Or, you can watch it on YouTube below!
Join us next week, when we'll discuss John G. Avildsen's "The Karate Kid".

The Monkees: HEAD
Friday Sep 28, 2018
Friday Sep 28, 2018
Head, Head, Head... so repeats the voice, on the film we cover this week, The Monkees surrealist comedy HEAD. A film by a band, that most considered a joke, and had, a rather silly television series, would be considered somewhat of a strain to get through right? but is it? Did we like it? Who did? Who didn't? You will just need to listen on and find out, ya dig?

Flaming Star
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
The gangs all here this week. This episode was recorded, the day of Burt Reynolds death, so there is a bit of Burt talk on this one.
Our main discussion is the Elvis film Flaming Star, however there are side tangents on Elvis also.
It all makes for a bit of Elvis goodness.
Go get it.

Wacko
Tuesday Sep 04, 2018
Tuesday Sep 04, 2018
The Lawnmower killers' back and I'm gonna get him!! Hey gang, we're back, finally, with a new episode, only Hunter and John are not this week, so to help Stu out on this one, his brother Jules returns, to discuss a film they have lived with since 1983 - WACKO.
Never heard of it? well, it does have a cult following, but for those of you unfamiliar with it, sit back, and let Stu and Jules wax lyrical on it.
They also get into discussion on THAT Roadshow catalogue from 1983, and the impact it had on them. Confused yet? It will all make sense, listen on and find out.
Hunter and John will be back next episode, in the meantime, get your ears filled with everything Wacko
See ya next week
P.S - Just two side notes, on the episode, Stu mentions the film as being from 1981, well, this film has a varied release history. IMDB says 1982, however filmmaker Greydon Clark has it on his website as 1983. So who really knows? We gotta go with Greydon on this one.
Also, there is talk throughout of Stu trying to find a soundtrack to this film for the last near on 20 years. At the point of time we recorded this, it was still unfound... that is until later that night after Jules and I had parted company, stone me, if Stu found it on a blog out on the net. You can download it HERE and get yourself some Avalon goodness.

The one NOT about James Gunn
Friday Aug 17, 2018
Friday Aug 17, 2018
Hey gang, back this week with a new episode...about nothing. No film or topic covered here, just freeform conversation about some things we've watched recently, and tangents aplenty. Now, with the title, it says we don't talk about James Gunn... but do we? Best listen on and find out

Tex and the Lord of the Deep
Wednesday Jul 25, 2018
Wednesday Jul 25, 2018
It's two spaghetti westerns in a row, as John and Hunter scrutinize Duccio Tessari's adaptation of the Italian comic book character, Tex Willer. This one has a lot going for it, a great director, a great star with the amazing Guiliano Gemma, and a genre we love. How could they possibly screw this up? Well, listen and find out.

Massacre Time
Monday Jul 16, 2018
Monday Jul 16, 2018
Rock Month is over, so it's back to movies! John and Hunter sit down with Eric Zaldivar to discuss Lucio Fulci's spaghetti western "Massacre Time" (aka "The Brute and The Beast"), starring Franco Nero. There are many diversions along the way, as well as revelations, including a possible missing link between the spaghetti western and the Hong Kong heroic bloodshed movies of John Woo. Don't miss it!

Rock Month: Motorhead
Sunday Jul 01, 2018
Sunday Jul 01, 2018
And so it is, that we wind up Rock Month 2018, but what a band to finish with. Friends, this week, we bring you, the one, the only - MOTORHEAD.
On this episode we look at 7 Motorhead albums in particular, but also talk all the other albums in their discography briefly too.
It all makes up for one hell of a show, so sit back, get your Jack Daniels, perch yourself at your beloved Ms. Pac-Man machine and listen on.
Back to te usual film discussion next week, but for now, get yourself some Motorhead.
Enjoy.

Rock Month: Devin Townsend
Saturday Jun 23, 2018
Saturday Jun 23, 2018
Greetings friends, we are back this week, in search of the perfect cup of coffee, and also week 3 of Rock Month. This time, it's Hunter's pick, and he has gone for Canadian artist, and man of many varied styles - Devin Townsend.
This may be the most interesting Rock Month episode ever, as Townsends music can be polarizing, and his sound, as you will find out, isn't for everybody.
Listen on, and enjoy. We'll be back for the final week of Rock Month of 2018 next week.

Rock Month: Silverhead
Friday Jun 15, 2018
Friday Jun 15, 2018
Here we are friends, back with week 2 of Rock Month, and what would usually be Hunter's pick (that will be next week) we are actually going with John's this time around. So what obscurity has he pulled out for this year? A band I dare say you (along with Hunter and Stu) have never heard of - Silverhead.
With a discography only spanning two albums (hence the shorter than usual running time for a Rock Month episode) we look at the the band, and it's frontman Michael Des Barres.
So pop on your spandex, grab the blush and lipstick, and listen on with us.
See ya next week.

Rock Month: The Macc Lads
Thursday Jun 07, 2018
Thursday Jun 07, 2018
Eh Up! Ok gang, well it is that time of the year, Rock Month is here!! To start off the month, we head up to the North of England, to Macclesfield to be precise, and focus on (what some folks call) the most offensive band ever to come out of Great Britain - The Macc Lads.
Listen on and hear Hunter and John's reactions, to the (so called) obnoxious (but cleverly written) lyrics and punk rock greatness, while Stu (who chose them for RM) sees them in a different light. Anyway, it is one hell of a way to kick the month off, we'll be back next week with John's pick.
Enjoy ya poofs.

Hey gang, Rock Month is around the corner, so for this week we decided to get you all revved up for it by doing a Rock Month appetiser.
On this episode, we look and review the new albums of bands we have covered previously. On this one we look at
Van Halen: Live at the Tokyo Dome
Faith No More: Sol Invictus
The Cult: Hidden City
Cheap Trick: We're All Alright
Black Country Communion: BCC IV
The Darkness: Pinewood Smile
Opinions are our own, argue if you must, but sit back and enjoy nonetheless

Dunkirk
Saturday May 19, 2018
Saturday May 19, 2018
Hey friends, the gangs all here. Hunter returns to the show after a few weeks off getting married and stuff. Anyway this time around, we go the less common route for the MMC, and look at a newer film.
This week we talk the latest Christopher Nolan film DUNKIRK. Of course, it wouldn't be an MMC episode without various rants scattered throughout (Star Wars, Morrissey and a few other things).
Anyway, Rock Month is upon us soon, next weeks episode will be a Rock Month appetizer.
Warning: This episode has a few naughty words in it, so it is NSFW
See ya next week
Enjoy.

MMC Mystery Bag
Monday May 07, 2018
Monday May 07, 2018
Hey friends back with a new episode.. that is kinda old. You see, Stu and John recorded this one a few weeks ago, and it was meant to be out around the same time of its recording, HOWEVER the EAR/ONS story broke and this got pushed aside for that episode.
Anyway there are some references in there to Hunter's wedding that are now long out of date, but nevermind, you understand why now.
So, what does this episode contain? Well it's a little bit of this, and a little bit of that, with some other things sprinkled over it, so.... you are just gonna have to listen and find out.
See ya next week.

EAR/ONS III - UNMASKED
Thursday Apr 26, 2018
Thursday Apr 26, 2018
GOT HIM !!!!!
Hey gang, this week, we return to the world of EAR/ONS with some incredible news. EAR/ONS himself has been caught!!! In what was breaking develpoments of the last 24 hours, from the point of time of our recording, EAR/ONS was turned in by his own daughter of all people, and arrested by Police awaiting trial for multiple counts of murder.
We are joined by our friend Gian Quasar, who has spent years tracking down EAR/ONS, so to say that today is a day that is utterly surreal, would be putting it mildly.
Anyway, listen in.
See ya next week.

Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold
Friday Mar 23, 2018
Friday Mar 23, 2018
John and Hunter made a terrible mistake this week. We attempted to get into author Joan Didion through her nephew Griffin Dunne's documentary on her, Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold. Yes, the same Griffin Dunne who was in An American Werewolf in London. The result is a lot of boomer crap we hate. We apologize ahead of time.

The Decline of Western Civilization Part. 2
Friday Mar 16, 2018
Friday Mar 16, 2018
Hey friends, so as promised, here is our review of The Decline of Western Civilization Part. 2. This one stinks of hedonism, and is a great window, into the dying horse, that was the hair metal scene in L.A in 1989. Hardly any of the bands here 'made it', and rightly so, some are ok but unmemorable, some are memorable for the fact they are plain awful.
So grab your hairspray, get inthe spa, pop open some champagne and grab the nearest Metal chicks and listen on with us. Odin commands it!!!!
Enjoy

The Decline of Western Civilization Part. 1
Saturday Mar 03, 2018
Saturday Mar 03, 2018
Ok friends, this week, actually the next two weeks, we will be looking at the legendary Penelope Spheeris documentaries - The Decline of Western Civilization.
This week it is Part 1 from 1981, which focuses on the West Coast Punk scene, with performances by The Germs, Fear, X, Circle Jerks and a few others. The documentary is THE seminal Punk documentary, and one of the most influential of all time. I don't think it is too difiicult to guess if we liked it or not... or is it as easy as that?
Anyway, sit down with us, and we hope enjoy the Decline of Western Civilization
See ya next week with Part 2

This follow up to our very popular vol. 1, will get you lot unfamiliar with these, all educated up (and hopefully motivated to go and buy these British classics).

Burning Ed Burns with Zolly Becker
Thursday Feb 08, 2018
Thursday Feb 08, 2018
A long-in-discussion show has finally seen the light of day! John and Hunter are joined by trollmeister Zolly Becker to discuss the filmography of the Irish Woody Allen, Ed Burns. In true MMC fashion, the conversation is about 1/4th Ed Burns, and 3/4ths other stuff, including Roman Polanski and Woody Allen, #MeToo, and other memes. Lots of insanity and bizarre subjects, listener discretion is advised!
Look for Stu's return on the next episode!

Some of us liked it, some of us didn't, but it is a film that cannot be ignored, so sit back with us and listen on.
Thanks for your patience while we had some time off over Christmas and the New Year. We are now back in full swing, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for weekly episodes.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Monday Dec 25, 2017
Monday Dec 25, 2017
Merry Christmas, everyone!
Hunter is joined by Tom Jennings of the 24 Frames Cast and the Masters of Cinema Cast to discuss Disney's latest attempt at making a Star Wars movie. What did we think? Well...just listen.
Be sure to check out Tom's other shows. Hunter has appeared in the past on episodes discussing The Gospel According to St. Matthew, Silent Running, and Two-Lane Blacktop. He will soon be making another appearance on the Masters of Cinema Cast to discuss Masahiro Shinoda's 1971 adaptation of Shusako Endo's Silence. Of course, the recent Martin Scorsese version is also discussed. We'll post an update on the site as soon as it goes up.
Stu and John will return on the next episode!
