Lau Kar Leung: An Appreciation

While Stu is trapped in the Yabba, John and Hunter tackle a topic they've been wanting to do for awhile: late martial artist, choreographer and filmmaker Lau Kar Leung, also known as Liu Chia-Liang. This week, the two of his movies that are in-focus are 8 Diagram Pole Fighter, starring Gordon Liu and Alexander Fu Sheng, and Martial Arts of Shaolin, starring a young Jet Li. We discussed his film The 36th Chamber of Shaolin on an early episode of the show, so check that out too for a blast from the past. Also, Stu responds to John and Hunter's criticism of his Godzilla opinions on the last show. Enjoy!

Bad Day at Black Rock

As Stuart enters his sabbatical, John and Hunter sit down to discuss Bad Day at Black Rock, a John Sturges genre mash-up starring Spencer Tracy, Robert Ryan, Anne Francis, Lee Marvin, and Ernest Borgnine. Of course, the conversation enters into other territories as well, including the Brian Singer scandal. Steven Seagal fans should enjoy this one

The commentary John Sturges did for the Criterion LaserDisc discussed on the show can be found here

Southern Comfort

SQUEAL LIKE A PIG!!!! A phrase, unfortunately, too commonly used, when uneducated people discuss the American South. In this episode, we don't discuss Deliverance, instead we discuss the 1981 film Southern Comfort. We are joined also by a guy from the South, Mr Matt Dawson, AKA Saint RPH from the great Soopermexican podcast.
Here we discuss the film, dispel some Southern myths, rip into KISS, talk a little bit of Ted Nugent, and a whole bunch more.
See y'all next week

Taking a different turn again with episodes, this time around, the Midnight Movie Cowboys interview filmmaker Cameron Cloutier about his project he is hoping to get off the ground about EAR/ONS (East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker)
Perhaps the first and only podcast about this notorious rapist/killer, we talk about his crimes, and also Cameron's yet to be made film 'Bird with a Broken Wing'.
Go visit Cameron's Facebook page HERE and throw him support, and a few bucks too to help get this project off the ground.
We hope this episode alerts you to the still unsolved mystery of EAR/ONS.

The search for Count Dante

John Timothy Keehan AKA Count Dante was marketed as 'The deadliest man alive' in the 1970's. His advert was usually found in the pages of Marvel Comics.
Not a great deal is known about Count Dante, and after his sudden death in 1975, his mystical persona reached epic heights.
Now, a new documentary about the controversial Count Dante is in production, and we here at the Midnight Movie Cowboys, are pleased to be speaking with, and being educated about Count Dante by documentary filmmaker Floyd Webb.
Join Stu and John (again, no Hunter, he is definitely back next week) along with Floyd, in a discussion about one of the most mysterious and controversial Martial Artists ever.
See you next week
